Get Fit While You Sit with Harbinger
Have a Ball at Work for National Employee Health & Fitness
Day
Napa, California – April 2007 – Harbinger
wants employees to have a ball at work for National Employee Health
& Fitness Day (May 16, 2007) and they have just the thing to
get the day rolling: the Harbinger Training Ball.
By sitting on the Harbinger Training Ball instead of a standard
office chair, employees can easily improve their work health and
get fit while they sit. “Active sitting” strengthens
abs and back muscles, reducing back pain that comes from improper
posture and alignment. As a bonus, an improved posture makes people
look pounds lighter. And employees take note: informing your boss
of the health benefits of a training ball might enable you to purchase
a fitness ball as a work-related expense.
Just sitting on a ball is no substitute for exercise. But with
Harbinger’s Training Ball, there’s no reason to leave
the office to work out. The Training Ball can be transformed from
a chair to an invaluable exercise accessory. Below is one exercise
that uses the Training Ball. For more, users can refer to Harbinger’s
Training Ball Exercise Guide, available on the Harbinger website
(http://www.harbingerfitness.com/images/tips/GuidePDFs/TrainingBall.pdf).
WALL SITS
Beginner: 8-12 repetitions for 1-2 sets
Intermediate/Advanced: 12-15 repetitions for 3
sets
Stabilization and balance when starting out may be difficult
but once your core strength improves, so will your balance.
• While standing with your back to a wall, place the Harbinger Training
Ball behind your lower back, between you and the wall.
• Place your feet shoulder width apart, toes pointing forward, heels
pressed firmly into the floor.
• Slowly bend your knees into a squatting position (do not exceed
a 90-degree bend at the knees), let the ball roll toward the middle
of your back.
• Make sure your back is straight, abdominals tights, and look straight
ahead. Make sure your knees stay over your toes and keep your hands
at your sides.
• Squat until you are in a sitting position, then slowly come back
up, pushing with your heels.
• Inhale on your way up and exhale on the way down.
